When I heard about the concept that is Savure, Vapiano sprung to mind almost immediately. The idea that you can select your pasta and a sauce felt like previously visited territory. Stop. Right. There. This is the similar, but the difference is critical to know. Firstly, they make the pasta on site. Yep, right in front of you, you can see the Chef mix the ingredients of eggs, plain flour and a bit of salt. There are even some variations on this recipe to provide for some interesting flavours.
It is quite a theatre to watch and pips Vapiano to the post on much more than a dining experience. It is delightful to see the flat whole pasta placed in the machine, coming in out in fresh and beautiful strips. Nothing beats that.
The sauces added are also extremely fresh. Nothing flash, just traditional staple sauces to compliment the fresh pasta. Yum!
Don’t worry, pasta is not all they do. You can enjoy a selection of gorgeous antipasti consisting of Italian meats, anchovy stuffed baby peppers and the most delicious creamy burrata.
They have a counter with ready made delights to take away with you, but if you have the time time, its definitely worthwhile having a cheeky lazy lunch. Additionally, the evening works well with a gang of your friends having a sharing affair. Everything tastes so good, you will want a bit of everyone’s plate.
Of course there is always space for dessert! Even for me, who is not a lover of the sweeter side of things. Little pots of goodness are on offer including tiramisu, which I highly recommend.
The team of chefs were delighted to have an audience as they prepared the pasta from scratch and why not. After all, this is not just a USP, it really looked like a passion of theirs. Great spot of the beaten track in Shoreditch/the city. Get yourself over there!
