Firstly, what is Matcha? Matcha is a finely ground powder of specially grown and processed green tea. So why not just have green tea you ask? Well, with traditional green tea, components from the leaves get infused into the hot water, then the leaves are discarded. With Matcha, you’re drinking the acutal leaves too! So no waste, maximum gain, as matcha is rich in antioxidants.
So, enter a different take on Matcha. Instead of the cute cuppa’s I have enjoyed recently at Counter Albion, the cool folk at Modo have come up with two cold pressed matcha infusions. We have the zesty Lemon & Match Green Tea and spring-in-your-step Pineapple & Matcha Green Tea. Both are delicious served cold. The flavour is intense, so it takes some getting used to, but this is a standalone morning kick in the butt to gear you up for your day.
These two little gems are the brainchild of Salvatore Lioniello who was a mixologist in Japan no less. His love of the ingredient and obvious mixing skills inspired him to drag this rich in history ingredient (monks have been drinking this for 100’s of years) and place it firmly into 2016. Some may say that Matcha is the latest fad, hot off the heels of coffeeism. I disagree, as long as you are doing interesting things with it, then why not.
We hope the range increases!
