Just behind Spitalfields Market in Commercial Street, resides a not-so-little cosy restaurant serving food the Italian way.
Being 100% pure Italian, makes me very picky when it comes to food from my motherland and when venturing on it abroad, I like to make sure the execution is loyal to the tradition.
La Pietra is one of those place where the Italian food is cooked to perfection, like only “mamma” does it. The name of the restaurant means stone in connection to the material used for the design and also for being used – in its volcanic form – to serve few of the main dishes.
I have been to La Pietra nearly a year ago, so this was definitely not my first time. However, I was happy to find out that the quality of the food hasn’t changed and it’s always very well presented and executed.
The menu is very generous and reasonably priced if you consider that the portions comes in a very good size.
The medley of pasta, risotto’s and pizza’s include the highlights of the very best Italian recipes along with a vast choice of antipasti, meat and fish options, not to mention desserts, wine and digestif list.
A great selection that would satisfy even the most difficult of the palates.
To open up your appetite start with a crisp hot focaccia (mind to share as it comes the size of a pizza!) with a board of italian cured meat and cheeses. Delicious.
This time we indulged in some homemade beautiful papardelle with wild mushrooms, cream and black truffle for me and Fusilli “tricolore” with salmon for my partner – both to die for.
All in all it’s lovely food.
Staff were friendly but frankly could do with being a bit more accurate and attentive on service, however this will not disuade me from going back. Booking is recommended. By Valentina.
