Jamie’s Italian seems to be bad wherever in the world you have it. I have dined in two restaurants in London with lack lustre experiences and it appears that taking this brand all the way over to Asia has not done it any favours either.
It is based in a shopping centre, so of course the look is quite uninspiring as there is only so much you can do that is exciting when you have to keep within the aesthetics of the general shopping mall decor.
The service was ok, but the food was not great. Everything arrived cold.
It was a very uninspiring experience. One would probably think we deserved this going all the way to Bangkok, only to have Jamie’s Italian, but surely with such a famous Chef leading the group there is an expectation that the food will be spot on.
I had lightly coated calamari which was cold and quite tough when it arrived. My companion had the king prawn in a tomato sauce which although cold, he said tasted ok. There was also a mixed a rocket salad as a side with parmesan shavings.
I will not be going to a Jamie’s Italian even if he ends up putting one in Italy or has he already disrespected the locals by doing that already.
