Deliveroo – Food delivered to your door: Bird

Deliveroo is a delivery service offering food from carefully curated partners. Some of our favourites are available including Patty & Bun, Chicken Shop, Pho and more.

On a rainy Friday lunch time, I opted to use it for my local area of Shoreditch. The options were plentiful, but I opted for some Chicken from Bird, a newish restaurant and takeaway offering free range chicken served fried with a variety of glazes and sauces.

I opted for two pieces of buttermilk ranch fried chicken, with a side order of pimento padrons and coke.

Deliveroo had given a delivery time of 45 minutes. Being as it was very busy, I anticipated a delay and they were professional in calling, in good time, to let me know there would be.

When the food arrived, I was disappointed. Firstly, there was no coke. Secondly the chicken breast was dry and tough in texture, the leg meat was purpleish. It was not tasty at all. The one saving grace was the pimento padron, which defeats the purpose when the speciality should be what the name suggests, Bird.

Chicken and Pimento

Deliveroo, for a first experience, was good. Bird for a first experience, the last experience. I am keen to try some of the other Shoreditch based offerings such as Dirty Burger, Voodoo Ray Pizza, The Diner, Tramontana Brindisa, all on my favourites list. Hopefully the deliveroo part, won’t always be the best part.
