It’s Saturday and I am back at Westfield in Stratford. Shopping is a chore mostly, but the benefit of this spot is everything you need is one place, so you can get it out of the way in one sesh. Clothes, accessories, toiletries, etc.
As shopping is hungry work, you have to have your break and grab some food. I have dined here previously, twice, at Bumpkin Brasserie. It delievered a great brunch and a fantastic lunch. As much as we were tempted to stick to the safe bet, we went for something new. Busaba Eathai, on the terrace outside was a great spot, especially as temperatures were reaching 28 degrees and we could sit outside.
I am a fan of Thai food, having visited Bangkok and Ko Samui previously. I have tasted some great street food and authentic cuisine. That by no means makes me an expert, I just have a sense of what I like.
Busaba Eathai, although part of of a chain, delivered. The food was so fresh, so tasty and spicy how I liked it. Let’s start with the selection of starters. We opted for chicken satay. Wow, succulent pieces of chicken. So moist, so flavoursome served with a not too intense peanut dipping sauce. Thai calamari, with ginger and green peppercorn – the one grey area in our dining experience, with it being quite tough in texture. Not sure if it is supposed to be served this way, but it was okay. The vegetable spring rolls were lush. So delicate.
Moving on to main courses. We went for Chilli Prawn fried rice with shitake mushroom and lime. Also Chilli Prawn with sweet basil, chilli and sugar snap peas. Both had a kick to them, but I am okay with spicyness. For two people, we had ordered enough – anything more would have been a waste.
The service was good, the food arrived quickly, so we were well oiled and ready for the next part of our shopping extravaganza. Will definitely go again.
