Bounce, Shoreditch – good group gaming fun and frolics

I have referenced Bounce before as an option for dates, something different to do rather than the normal drink and dinner. As part of a team outing, I had the opportunity to see what it is like for group outings. I highly recommend it for groups of friends and colleagues, as there is enough to keep you busy. From participating in the game, watching others play, having a beer and enjoying some food delivered to your game table, it gets a ticked box.

bouncetrio1So yes, overall, it is a good night out. For a set price per head for two hours, you can play tournaments with your friends or people watch if you are not ping pong skilled. I am particularly bad. No co-ordination at all, so having had my stint as the entertainment for one or two games, I settled on a stool to watch the boys face off each other.  Men do take this seriously, the competitiveness really comes out and it’s a treat to watch.

bounceduoIn terms of food and drink, it has a good bar and wine selection as well as spirits. The food we ordered were pizzas, charcuterie boards, bread with dips as well as potato skins. Whilst there is a restaurant that we did not check out, the food on offer here is ok. I am not saying its bad, I am just saying have reasonable expectations. I found the food to be slightly cold when it arrived. The margherita pizza was the best but the one with minced meat had not been cooked/browned enough. Having ordered this twice, it was not a one off mistake. The potato skins with cheese were a bit tough, like they had been on the kitchen pass for a while. I guess the food is ancillary to the gaming, so it’s not a priority to be good when being washed down with drinks and fun. I however as a foodie, always pay attention to these things.

Generally, a good crowd of people, staff are ok but missed out on opportunities to keep the drinks flowing, leaving empty bottles next to us. The sounds are killer here, really love the old school dance, soul and disco vibe – kudos to whoever created the playlists.

I enjoyed Bounce and perhaps I am being picky about the food. I would recommend it for team outings, as you definitely come away feeling like you have had a good night out.
