Atelier, Sofia – a local stylish bistro

There was a lot of walking in Sofia, how else were we going to discover some of the best the city has to offer. of course you could google for “best of” lists, but if you did that, you would miss out on the best kept secrts.

Atelier is in a residential area near the embassies. You can tell this is a more of a well to do crowd, it is quite similar to Highgate Village as a comparison. Little boutiques and gorgeous cafes/bar line the streets next to big houses and embassy buildings.

Simplicity is key in this place. One page menu has a selection of easy dining choices. Not too heaven, interesting mixes and a very med feel. Great value for money and good for sharing. Main dish is king prawns with courgette and parmesan in olive, garlic and lemon oil.

Hummus with pitta bread and sun-dried tomatoes

Feta cheese with green chilli peppers, garlic and paprika

One of many couples enjoying the cosy and comfortable bistro.

Atelier seems to be a great place for couples, so its definitely a spot to hit if you are on a romantic break for two. That said, you feel comfortable whoever you are. Great find, lovely food and a waiter who had the biggest smile every.
